Mr. Coyle is responsible for the development and implementation of the Henderson Group’s investment strategy, managing the overall operations and resources of the company and facilitating communication between investors and officers. Prior to joining the Henderson Group in 2013, Mr. Coyle counseled a diverse clientele in the operation and valuation of real estate portfolios throughout the country. Mr. Coyle’s prior professional experience also includes acquisition and due diligence work for Caves Valley Partners (an opportunistic real estate equity syndicate active in the Mid-Atlantic region) and Alex. Brown Realty , Inc. (a privately-owned real estate investment manager active throughout the United States).
Mr. Caterino joined the firm in 2019 and is responsible for sourcing and evaluating acquisition prospects, driving strategies for development of assets within its land portfolio, and also managing the planning and implementation of all financial-related activities of the Henderson Group. Mr. Caterino monitors the use of all funds and ensures that effective internal controls are in place to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. He also oversees the preparation of all financial reports, budgets and forecasts, and maintains strategic relationships with trusted lending and equity partners. Prior to joining the Henderson Group, Mr. Caterino was a Co-Founder at Principal of Whitewoods Capital Advisors, a full service real estate consulting firm and also held similar roles at O’Neill Properties Group in King of Prussia and Commerce Group in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Prior to entering real estate in 1998, Mr. Caterino was a Bank Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Master Science in Finance from Boston College and achieved the Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Mr. Caterino also holds his Real Estate Sales license in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Coyle advises the officers of the Henderson Group on all aspects of the company’s business, and maintains strategic relationships with special outside counsel on the company’s behalf. Since joining the Henderson Group in 2013, Mr. Coyle has managed the formulation, review and execution of all organizational documents, purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, and loan documents. Mr. Coyle is also active in the company’s land development efforts, managing the regulatory process for obtaining approvals and entitlements. Mr. Coyle’s prior professional experience focused upon advising clients in the context of complex commercial litigation, as well as in a variety of commercial real estate transactions.
In his capacity as Director of Property Services, Mr. Smith oversees three separate divisions of the Henderson Group: (1) a property management team responsible for the overall successful operation of the company’s portfolio, ensuring tenant satisfaction and compliance with industry standards; (2) an in-house construction department (trading as Henderson Northeast Corp.) that oversees ground-up development, tenant fit-up and capital improvement projects; and (3) a staff of building technicians responsible for the repair and maintenance of the Henderson Group’s assets. Having been with the Henderson Group since 1985, Mr. Smith has personally overseen construction efforts related to the majority of the company’s portfolio of assets.
Ms. Sarmento is responsible for the asset management of the Henderson Group’s office and industrial portfolio including the budget review, third party management contract objectives, capital expenditure planning and management as well as leasing oversight for the portfolio, all with the goal of maximizing asset profitability and ownership portfolio investment returns. Ms. Sarmento has 30+ years experience in the real estate industry in both the private and public companies including REITs, investment banks, health systems and insurance companies. Prior to joining Henderson, Ms. Sarmento held positions with Universal Health Real Estate Investment Trust, Capmark Investments/GMAC Equity, Mainline Health, Brandywine Realty Trust and Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company. Ms. Sarmento received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Scranton and holds the designations for Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM), Certified Property Manager (CPM®), and Real Property Administrator (RPA) and is a past president of the Institute of Real Estate Management – Delaware Valley Chapter 3.
